This is an article I wrote a few years back while I was doing open channeling sessions for groups of people. I was a full-body trance medium and would allow my guide, Dr. Peebles, to enter my body and speak through me to the group who was there to learn from Spirit. Trance-channeling took a lot of energy and was something that I simply couldn't maintain for an indefinite period of time. Dr. Peebles still works with me, however the communication is now clairaudient rather than full-body. Channeling doesn't have to be done in the full-body sense; it can be used as a means to connect with your Higher Self in order to receive relevant messages and spiritual teachings. I enjoyed channeling and wrote this article to teach channeling students more about the basics of it. Here is the article: The ABC’s of Channeling Allow * Believe * Communicate
What is Channeling? Simply put, channeling is the process of connecting to and communicating Universal Wisdom. It is a process of tapping into and accessing Universal knowledge from an infinite “database” of information. There are many different forms of channeling including: • Conscious • Light-trance • Full-body trance Conscious channeling involves tapping into the Divine Database in such a way that you are completely aware of the information coming through and having near-total recall of everything that is communicated. Light-trance channeling is the process of going into an altered state of consciousness where you are aware of your environment and surroundings, as well as what is being said, but without as much recall. In a state of light-trance, one tends to feel very wise and truth seems obvious. The information has a flow to it that feels like a continuous stream of insight but you are not necessarily aware of where the info is coming from; it’s just there. Full-body trance channeling occurs when you surrender your body and voice to the consciousness of a guide or teacher in Spirit that speaks through you. There is little to no awareness of what has been communicated and the information that comes through is in such a way that thought instantly becomes speech. Channeling is not just limited to speech; it can be in the form of automatic writing, movement, singing/toning, or any other form of communication.
Facts and Myths of Channeling
• Channeling is a natural process and occurs for people much easier then they would assume. Anytime a stream of inspired information is being communicated, it is a form of channeling. Music and art are forms of channeling. • Most people have channeled at some point or another. Any creative process is governed by channeling. Channeling brings together the right and left hemispheres of the brain in order to communicate ideas and impressions. The right brain is creative and intuitive and the left is logical and analytical; channeling is a blending of the two. • Channeling a guide does not entail you losing your identity. Your own thoughts, feelings, and agendas are temporarily displaced so that Universal information can come through more clearly but you do not lose who you are. If you are a full-body trance channel, you allow your body and voice to be manipulated by Spirit for a period of time, but a higher-level guide would never ask for you to give up your free will or control over who you are. • Channeling is a blending of consciousness. When you channel, you blend your own consciousness with that of the being whom you are channeling or that of your own higher self (the eternal part of yourself existing in it’s infinite state). When you channel a guide, their consciousness moves to front and your own moves to the back. It’s like trading places; you are still there, just with a different point of view. • There is no such thing as a pure channel. You can do many things to strengthen your connection to the Divine and to your guides but there is no way for you to be completely out of the picture because you are the one being spoken through. The information comes through your mind and your body and as such is filtered through your perceptions. The guides will communicate things based upon the thoughts and words that you are familiar with. They may find new and creative ways of communicating that information, but it is flavored with who you are. There is no way that you cannot be you. • There IS such a thing as a clear channel. In order to be a clear channel, one must surrender their agendas, judgments, and opinions. Through working on the self, you can become clear in your intentions and deliver information from a place of integrity and genuineness. You can set aside your ideas about what is right or wrong and simply allow yourself to be unbiased. Spirit sees the big picture and understands the higher plan and purpose in all things. For example, if you are channeling and someone says that they are going to commit a murder and you channel out how wrong and horrible that person is; you are not being as clear of a channel as you could be. If the response is something to the effect of, “Well dear, you could do that but please understand that if you make that choice there are repercussions. Every action, no matter how large or small, has a consequence” then you are coming from a greater place of detachment and simple truth. This is an extreme example, and should something to this effect occur (which is unlikely), then ask your guides to bring forth the best knowledge for what you should personally do with that kind of information, be it notifying the authorities or anything else.
Questions to ask yourself
1. Why do I want to channel? 2. What kind of channel do I want to be (conscious, semi-conscious, or full-body trance-medium)? 3. What does that mean to me? 4. What all does that entail? 5. Who (in Spirit) do I want to channel, or do I just want to channel my higher self? 6. When and where do I want to channel? 7. Who do I want to channel for, if anyone?
Rules and etiquette of channeling
∴ Choose your gatekeeper. This is your main guide that will act as the doorman to the energies that are channeled through you. This must be a guide that you have complete and total trust in. They will be responsible for who (if other than themselves) speaks through you and what sort of energy is allowed to pass through your body. Your gatekeeper is someone that you make a special contract with and your care is trusted to their capable hands. If you are unsure who your gatekeeper is, then ask Spirit to send you one that is of the highest quality of Light and operating from the highest Source of Truth (God). Establishing a relationship with your gatekeeper is the most important thing to do before attempting trance work. Don't know who your gatekeeper is? Click here for a simple meditation for meeting your guide. ∴ Set boundaries. If there is anything that you are uncomfortable with, be clear with your gatekeeper about it. Your gatekeeper has your absolute best interest at heart and would never ask you to do something out of alignment with your integrity. Be clear about the level of permission that you give a guide who speaks through you. For example, if you prefer for your guide to not use strong language such as cuss words, then say so. If you prefer your guide to stay far away from volatile topics of discussion such as religion, politics, or sexuality, then be clear about that. ∴ NEVER use channeling to manipulate another to your own personal agenda. There are many people who call themselves “clear channels” that are clearly… unclear. If your sessions attract a following, be sure that the messages that are communicated are objective, compassionate, loving, and empowering to the individuals being channeled for. There have been channels that use the trust of others to gain a sense of power in order to boost their ego or convince others to give them excessive amounts of money. There is nothing wrong with charging a fee for channeling, but not to the point that people feel they must pay a large sum or risk not being helped. ∴ Honor yourself. As a channel, there will be many people who will seek you out for help and information. It would be easy to work 24 hours a day channeling for people because there is always a multitude of people who feel they need help. The trick is to know when your channeling would be compromised because your own needs are not being met. You can only help others when you are at your own best. If you choose to be a channel for other people, there is a good chance that you are very compassionate and giving in nature. It can be difficult to say no to someone who asks for help and it is easy to think that their needs are greater than yours. This is a subtle way that your ego can creep into the picture and if left unchecked, you could easily develop a “martyr” complex. Take care of you FIRST. Make sure that you are rested, refreshed, and healthy. ∴ Practice makes perfect. Channeling takes time, patience, and dedication. Don’t try to rush the process. It can take some people years before they are ready to allow a guide to speak through and shift their channeling to a full-trance state. Yours guides have a way of knowing exactly what you need and when you need it; trust them. ∴ Body care is important. Make sure that you drink plenty of water before and after channeling. When you channel a high-level guide, it takes a lot out of you. It is similar to running 100 watts through a 40-watt light bulb. Because their frequency is so high and ours is low in comparison, it is very important to make sure that your central nervous system is free of too many stimulating substances. Caffeine, nicotine, and other stimulants are best avoided for at least an hour before you channel. Spirit will work with your energy no matter what so just do the best you can. If you smoke, make sure that you are drinking plenty of water. Vitamins and minerals are important as well. Spirit tends to use a lot of these, especially potassium and magnesium. Taking herbs such as oat straw (Avena Sativa) and dandelion leaf (Taraxacum Officinalis) before you channel can be beneficial in helping you regain your strength afterwards. After you channel, you may feel energized or tired; again, honor your body’s needs. ∴ Make sure that you are relaxed and comfortable. This is a sacred art but it is also joyful, fun, and fulfilling. Have a good time and remember that this work is done with the point of helping others raise their levels of consciousness and enlightenment. Enlightenment is about bringing more Light in; laughter, joy, and love are the best ways of doing just that.
